Music Studio and Importing Yamaha Styles
Quote from chip100 on January 7, 2025, 5:10 pmCan anyone provide any hints or tips for importing Yamaha styles into Music Studio 10 (for Windows). I would like to get some of these working for use with Music Studio and to export for use with Org24.
My Yamaha styles are Tyros 1 or 2 format (both SFF1). I am using the Music Studio default template, and also used the Korg Pa3X LE factory sounds .factory file, but when I ‘Import rhythm for Yamaha sty files’ the drums, bass, and Acc.1 to Acc.5 tracks all sound terrible. I understand they need revoicing and have experimented with different sound but have not really been successful, so my issue is broader than just revoicing. (I should add that importing Korg style sets has been more successful, but I have a collection of Yamaha styles I would like to get working).
My Yamaha style files sound fine if I test using the PSR Style player (from the Unofficial Yamaha Keyboard Resource site ), and if I rename the Yamaha sty file to a .mid and open in Cubase, the instrument assignments look and sound good.
I have seen a couple of Youtube videos but they are not in my native language and the Youtube translation for screen captions didn’t work very well. I saw that someone appeared to have a GM instrument set for Music Studio, but I can’t see one to download.
Please let me know your tips and techniques - thanks
